With a profoundly haunted and historical presence, Dahlonega, nestled in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains, has become a town known for its captivating stories of the inexplicable. Its past with gold-mining, the Trail of Tears, and the Civil War, combined with its geology, has given rise to accounts of the unknown and the sense of a paranormal and ever present history. The tales that have emerged from Dahlonega’s tumultuous past, corroborated by the town’s residents, include sightings of Civil War soldiers playing cards in Mount Hope Cemetery; the apparition of a little girl in a floor length white dress playing in the rooms of Dahlonega’s Historic District; apparitions rattling dishes and pans in restaurants on the Public Square; chairs and chess pieces being moved when no one was there; and many more.

The approximately 15-location guided tour takes guests on an eerie journey full of local tales and legends. The tour weaves through streets, back alleys, rows of historic buildings and, in the Summer months, the historically significant Mount Hope Cemetery.

 

We are not just a storytelling tour. Hours of investigation and research have been invested in the information we provide on our tours. We have studied the local history, interviewed historians and native experts, and listened to numerous personal accounts of paranormal activity. This research, combined with employing the use paranormal investigators utilizing thermal cameras and other equipment to document sightings, we assure that the tours reflect our mission of presenting to you with an experience based soundly in historical fact and paranormal activity.

 

We believe that reality is stranger than fiction, and our research has affirmed that. There are things in this world that cannot be explained, and we do not know what lies beyond in the afterlife. There are, however, small windows into that world, and Dahlonega, Georgia is one of them.
